When did you join AACE? January 27, 2020

Why do you do what you do, professionally?
I sort of fell into the association world. While working on my undergraduate degree, my plan had always been to attend law school. However, after completing several internships, I quickly realized that the legal profession was not for me. After graduation, I began to work for a civil and environmental engineering firm. During this time, I went back to school and graduated with an MBA. After completing my degree, I didn’t really know what my next steps were.

I saw an available position at AACE and interviewed with Jennie in 2019. Interestingly, she has family that lives in my hometown, a small town in the middle of nowhere West Virginia. We just clicked and I felt so comfortable with her. During the interview I met with other staff, and they were so genuine and helpful. At that moment, I knew AACE was the right fit for me. Every day since then, AACE has created an environment that validates this sense of belongingness for me.

What do you enjoy most about working at AACE?
The members and staff make AACE such an enjoyable place to work. Headquarters also provides a healthy work-life balance and for that I am grateful.

Tell us about your interests, family, and/or a fun fact!
I married my high school sweetheart, and we have two beautiful girls together. Life with two little ones is extremely hectic, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have included the only family photo we have managed to get since the birth of our second. It is the perfect representation of our lives at this point!

Although my rambunctious little ones don’t allow much time for hobbies, my interests are very diverse. They include anything from reading to camping. I love being outdoors, but I also love a good lazy Saturday when I can binge-watch television shows.

Fun fact, I hate cooking but enjoy eating… eating can be a hobby too, right?
