AACE 2022 Election Results Announced

Results are being announced for this year’s annual AACE International Board of Directors election for President-Elect, Treasurer, and Director-at-Large. Also elected were five Regional Directors who will serve on the Membership Advisory Committee. Voting ended March 31.

The Winners Are:

AACE International Board of Directors:

  • President-elect: Patrick M. Kelly, PE PSP
  • Treasurer: Cindy Hands, CCP
  • Director-at-Large: Michael J. Bennink, PE CCP PSP

Regional Directors Elected to the Membership Advisory Committee (MAC)

  • RD1: Diana Nada
  • RD2: Nicole Johnson, CEP
  • RD4: Dayna Anderson
  • RD7: Waleed M. El Nemr
  • RD9: João Dias, PSP

President-Elect

Patrick M. Kelly, PE PSP, has been elected as President-Elect.  This will be a three-year commitment, serving in 2022-2023 as President-Elect, then as President for 2023-2024, and a year as Past President for 2024-20254.

Patrick is a senior managing director at Ankura, located in Washington, DC. With more than 25 years of relevant experience, he is an expert in project controls, critical path method (CPM) scheduling, earned value analysis, forensic schedule analysis for delays, and disruption and loss of productivity analysis. Patrick is a professional civil engineer and a certified Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) who has qualified and testified as an expert on CPM scheduling and forensic delay analysis in the US and internationally. He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1996 and served as a Surface Warfare Officer and in the Civil Engineer Corps. Following his service, he joined a construction management firm and provided services for project controls, scheduling, and claims/disputes resolution. He has extensive experience in transportation and infrastructure, shipbuilding and ship repair, hotels and condominiums, and government and public facilities. Patrick has been active in AACE since 2007, and has served the organization in several roles for the last decade.  He held the chair of the Claims and Disputes Resoultion Subcommittee for four years (2012 – 2016), and continues to serve on that committee’s board. Patrick has also been on the Board of Directors since 2016, as Director Region 2 and Vice President – Finance. In addition, he has worked to expand the technical resources of AACE by authoring multiple papers on scheduling and forensic analysis, and by contibuting to several recommended practices.

All remaining positions serve two-year terms.

AACE Treasurer

Cindy Hands, CCP, was elected to serve as Treasurer.

Cindy is a project controls manager with over 25 years’ experience in the oil and gas, mining, energy, infrastructure, and construction industries.  She currently is a project controls manager supporting several large infrastructure projects in Canada. From 2014 – 2016, she was the president of AACE Canada (RD1) overseeing 10+ Canadian Sections and served on the AACE International Board.  From 2020-2021, she was VP Membership North America on the AACE International Board and is currently a Director-At-Large, chairing the Membership Advisory Committee (MAC).

AACE Director-at-Large

Michael J. Bennink, PE CCP PSP, was elected to serve as Director-at-Large.

Michael has been an active member of AACE International since 2002 and is currently the Director of Region 2.  He holds the CCP and PSP certifications and is a licensed professional engineer in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  Michael is currently a Director at JS Held based out of New York. He recently served as President of the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers. He received his engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a business degree from Monmouth University. 

The AACE International Board of Directors is comprised of a minimum of nine (9) and a maximum of eleven (11) voting members including:

  • President
  • President-Elect
  • Past President
  • Secretary (formerly VP-Administration)
  • Treasurer (formerly VP-Finance)
  • Technical Board Director (as appointed by the Technical Board members)
  • Education Board Director (as appointed by the Education Board members)
  • Certification Board Director (as appointed by the Certification Board members)
  • At Large Director(s) (not less than one, but no more than three)
  • Executive Director/CEO (non-voting member of the Board)

 Five Elected as Regional Directors to serve on the MAC

Each Regional Director will serve as a liaison between the AACE Sections, within their respective Regions, and the Membership Advisory Committee. As noted above, newly elected or reelected to terms this year will be:

RD1: Diana Nada

Diana is based out of Toronto and is a Senior Manager in Deloitte’s Capital Projects Practice. Her AACE journey started in 2008 in Dubai. She later moved to Canada and started to participate and volunteer with AACE sections and soon became a member.

RD2: Nicole Johnson, CEP

Nicole is Vice President of Cost Estimating Services at Envision Consultants, Ltd., with more than 25 years of experience in project management, cost analysis, cost estimating, procurement, and value engineering. 

RD4: Dayna Anderson

Dayna Anderson is the current Region 4 Director and member of the Member Advisory Committee. She has implemented calls with section leaders across the globe to share ideas, increase membership, increase communication, and bring awareness of AACE diversity.

 

RD7: Waleed M. El Nemr

Waleed has been a member of AACE for over 12 years.  He was president of the Greater Cairo Section since 2018 (excluding one year in which he was vice president). He authored 5 papers and presented them at the Conference & Expo.  

RD9: João Dias, PSP

João is a chartered Civil Engineer with approximately 12 years’ experience within the construction industry. He is a certified Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) by AACE International and acts as an officer at AACE International Baltic Section. 

All elected Board of Directors and Regional Directors will officially begin their terms of office in June 2022.
