Seattle Section

On December 9, 2021, Alan Keizer, shown above left at the podium, was the guest speaker at an in-person meeting of the Seattle Section. Mr. Keizer’s talk focused on the current approaches to conducting quantitative risk assessment and risk management for capital projects.

The AACE Seattle section was able to end the year on a high note following a successful in-person technical meeting: The speaker, Alan Keizer delivered an engaging presentation on Capital Project Risk Assessment and Risk Management: Best Practices, Outcomes, and Lessons Learned. On Dec 9th, twenty-three people turned out for a gourmet meal and lively conversations. Following a much needed in-person reunion, Alan gave his presentation, during which he focused on the current approaches to conducting quantitative risk assessment and risk management for capital projects. Alan highlighted several different methodologies for cost estimating between various agencies: the Washington State Department of Transportation’s (WSDOT’s) Cost Estimate Validation Process (CEVP®), along with alternative approaches employed by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The Seattle section is looking forward to hosting our next in-person discussion. Thank you, Alan for helping us end this year with a sense of normalcy.

A much needed in-person reunion occurred in December 2021 when 23 members of the Seattle Section gathered for an in-person section get together and technical presentation. Attendees, shown above, enjoyed a gourmet meal and lively conversations prior to the technical presentation.
